Director of Geoscience
POSITION SUMMARY
Hexagon Energy, a clean energy development company specializing in geothermal, solar, and battery energy storage projects, is seeking a Director of Geoscience to support its geothermal development efforts.
As the Director of Geoscience, you will support Hexagon’s geothermal development efforts by collaborating on prospect generation and review, building project-specific resource exploration and assessment plans, advancing projects to grid-ready products, and contributing strategic vision to Hexagon Energy’s geothermal energy portfolio.
The scope and function of this position is based in the U.S. At this time, our company cannot sponsor international visas. This role directly supports our geothermal portfolio, which is based on the West Coast, and involves regional travel to project sites and in-person collaboration with our teams.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and implement best practices and novel techniques to de-risk potential geothermal resources and assess their viability
Quantify expected energy output for greenfield geothermal projects using industry standard tools
Assist in the development of geothermal exploration campaigns
Supervise geologic, geophysical, geomechanical, and geophysical data collection
Interpret and integrate results from pre-existing available data, as well as site-specific geologic, geophysical, geomechanical, and geophysical studies
Be directly involved in the site origination process by augmenting large-scale suitability modeling efforts
Communicate research findings and recommendations to team members, stakeholders, and industry partner

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Science or Engineering, Geology, or other industry relevant field.
5+ years experience in operation geothermal fields
Extensive knowledge of geothermal energy systems
Strong background in geothermal resource evaluation, development, and management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret magnetotelluric (MT), seismic, geochemical, gravity-magnetic, well log, structural, and stress regime data
Experience with QGIS or ArcGIS software suite
Experience with Seequent software suite, particularly Oasis Montaj and Leapfrog, or similar industry standard geovisualization software
Demonstrated ability to work effectively/collaboratively in dynamic, cross-functional teams and influence others through work ethic and positive attitude to accomplish stretch goals
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with reservoir modeling software
Familiarity with industry relevant machine-learning approaches
Familiarity with Python
