As a proud Virginia-based company, Hexagon Energy is pleased to announce that it has donated 16 acres of forested land in Richmond, VA, to the Capital Region Land Conservancy for conservation and future public park access.
This property was initially acquired by Hexagon Energy to explore potential opportunities for energy storage development. However, through our partnership with the Capital Region Land Conservancy, we now have the privilege to support equitable access to green spaces for Richmond residents.
Over 1,000 residents in Green Acres and Woodhaven will gain access to land, once converted to park space, for the first time. As we learned more about the City of Richmond's ambitious goals to provide all residents with park access within a 10-minute walk by 2037, it became clear that conservation was the highest and best use for this property. The site's valuable wetlands will continue to provide natural stormwater filtration and serve as an essential buffer for the riparian area.
Thank you to the entire team at Capital Region Land Conservancy for making this process seamless and for your continued work protecting natural resources in the Richmond region.
