Erica O’Donnel
Senior Development Engineer
Erica serves as a Senior Development Engineer for Hexagon Energy. She is responsible for the engineering and design of renewable energy systems, including site analysis, system design, permitting, and utility interconnection.
Prior to joining Hexagon, Erica was a graduate research assistant at NC State University, where she studied the performance of the PV system on the NC State Solar House. Her research focused on developing a method to calculate solar panel degradation rates given limited data and comparing the long-term performance degradation of a-Si and c-Si solar panels. Previously, Erica worked as an Operations Research Analyst Intern at Energy and Security Group. In this role, she worked with USAID to develop an interactive GIS tool used by Power Africa Uganda to visualize renewable energy projects and identify areas for future development.
Erica holds B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University. During her undergraduate studies, she minored in Green Engineering and was an Honors Scholar in the Virginia Tech Honors College.
